Ham and Crow for Easter Dinner!!!

I would like to start my entry today with my sincere apology to my daughter for jumping to conclusions this morning and my hats off to my son in law for proving me wrong!  I won't go into detail---we'll just suffice it to say---she was right and I was wrong.  So anyway---on to our Easter dinner.  While MY CROW was done at PRECISELY 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time, everyone elses ham took a little longer than expected so dinner was about 1/2 hour late.  Other than that I would call the day a total success.  The kids were all SO pretty--well, except Bryce who we will have to put in the handsome category.  Hannah seemed to like the egg hunt once she understood what was going on!  We even backtracked and hid some eggs that she had already found so she would have more to find!  I made it a little harder for the older ones this year and they did pretty well.  Madilyn was happy with just finding one!!  They even all sat on the sofa for pictures---although getting all five of them to look at the camera and smile all at the same time was not all that successful!  We could have used some more silly string for Haleigh and Bryce but they made do.  It was nice to see them play together---they don't really get together that often but they seem to be able to just take up where they left off.  Alexis was only here for a short time as she had to go see her dad but everyone all got along well---even the dog---the kind of day that makes Nana's and Papa's very proud. Hannah didn't get her nap so I am really praying for Angie tonight that she (Hannah) sleeps well with no night terrors.  So I want to thank my immediate and extended family for a wonderful Easter.  The crow really wasn't that bad!!

It's still snowing..........good grief.

Family Days

I am on a three day off stint---gotta love it!  The first day was great as I spent it with my daughter and grandkids.  Haleigh stayed at the house and helped daddy, papa, and Shaggy cut up trees in our yard that had fallen over the course of the winter.  Can't even begin to say how thankful we are to Tom and Shag for the help---such an enourmous time consuming job that probably would have taken us all summer to do without the help.  Angie and I and Hannah Banana spent a good 4 hours shopping!!  Hannah was so good and even gave us a few good belly chuckles in the dressing room with her "thumbs up"  "thumbs down"  renditions!  Man that kid is quick!  She did not care for the Easter Bunny at the Mall, however.  She would cover her eyes every time we went by him!  She did like the real bunnies at the pet shop though.  Angie went to a shower afterwards and I watched the kids.  Hannah napped with no problem even though her adored "Kiki" was accidently left at home.  We got her an emergency Kiki in town and it did the trick!  Haleigh was a big help to the men---she trimmed branches, hauled branches, loaded wood, and even operated the lever on the wood splitter  (which tends to make grammas nervous!)  She is so grown up and it happened so fast.  Everyone stayed for a simple supper of grilled burgers and macaroni salad.  Everyone was pretty pooped when they left!

Yesterday my sister and I spent at Angie"s decorating.  The living room walls are done as far as we could go and look GREAT!!  Can't wait to do the last wall now and bring it all together.  We have a few ideas.  Maybe some new curtains and a new rug too!  We even got to put up some stuff in each girls room.  A few things on the walls sure can make a difference.  Hannah was just like Haleigh when she was little---pitching right in (whether we wanted her to or not!) to add her little decorative 2 year old touches!  Maybe they will inherit my "sickness"!  I left poor Angie in a mess in the kitchen---hope it didn't take long to pick up.  I really really enjoyed these two days and it just makes me want more!!

Oh--I got my compensation check yesterday!!!  Guess I can reel in the claws now!  It was even more than I expected it to be  (maybe that was for pain and suffering!!)  And Mike---I wasn't really sick---I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand.  It was more of a vacation with a little inconvenience than anything!!

Guess I am off to household chore world before my last day off comes to an end.  Again---thank you to my son (in law) and Shag for the help, to my daughter for the laughs, advice, and just for being you, to my sis for the unlimited amount of verbal and physical entertainment you provide, and to my granddaughters for absolutlely everything.  Love you all.

Unexpected day off

Had an unexpected day off from work yesterday.  I am pretty sure I had a little touch of food poisoning.  I had had Mahi-Mahi for supper the night before---believe me---I will not be eating it again any time soon!  Luckily Steve had had the Ahi tuna so he did not get sick.  I started feeling much better around noon so decided (here it comes Angie!!) to do the upstairs!  Got the master bedroom arranged and the guest bedroom.  Decided to leave the computer room as is only because I can't move the computer armoir by myself!!  Now that all the rooms are basically the way I want them, it is time to start weeding out and getting ready for yard sale weekend.  Any weekend best for you Angie?  I am thinking the first weekend in June because I will have a long weekend the week before where I can get it ready and set up.

Yes Papa feels quite pleased that Hannah always asks for him!  And I know she loves me too.  If I remember correctly, Haleigh was the same way.  We are looking forward to seeing them this weekend.  I will only have to figure out a way to keep Hannah from helping the men cut down the trees!

I just want Angie to know that I was not nasty to the comp people---I did have to be FIRM though because the one woman WAS nasty and was out and out lying.  I will probably file a formal complaint if the check is not received in a week or so.  This was a suggestion from my personnel manager.  She has been doing this work for 20 years and said that this is NOT the way it works!  Also have backing from the nurses at the doctors office who said they were the worst they have ever had to deal with.  I am just thankful we had some money ahead to pay the month's bills that I was out.  What I am thinking is most people would not have that luxury and what would they have done.  It is not easy to go without pay for a whole month---especially in the coldest part of the winter.

Wow, chatty Cathy again.  Must be the caffeine this morning.  I am not used to it!  Gotta go to work now then 3 days off!!!  Gotta love it!

Just another day at home

Had a great day at home yesterday!  Puttered around with my new TV cabinet that my exceptionally talented, handsome, sexy, funny, (funny ha-ha, not funny strange) intellegent, devoted, kind (he reads my site!) husband whipped up for me in his shop!  Very primitive looking and I love it.  It does need to go on wheels though, just like most of my furniture because I do tend to re-arrange a LOT.  Yes, Angie, I admit I have a sickness.  And no, I haven't redecorated myself out---still have plenty of energy left for your house next week!  I told Aunt Lynn what day---whether she remembers or not is not my duty.

Had Lynn and Phil over for dinner.  I still don't have Sis's talent in the kitchen but it turned out ok----of course the aforementioned husband did the chicken on the grill and it was yummy.  Even sat a few minutes out on the deck cause the weather was so nice.  That is what I may tackle today----rearranging furniture on the porch, deck, and Hawaiin Porch.  May have to go SHOPPING!!!  After dinner we watched 2 episodes of Lost.  Lynn wanted more more more but Phil wanted to go home.  I think he was a little uncomfy with Bella the Bassett camping out on his lap.  Plus our home is not noted for being toasty warm----maybe next year when we have the pellet stove hooked up!  Anyway, it's always fun getting together with my sister---she is amusing to say the least!

Had quite the go around with the compensation people on the phone yesterday.  WOW---I could actually see, feel, and smell the smoke coming out of every oriface in my head I was so angry.  I have been able to get hold of someone only twice since October!!!  You couldn't even leave messages beacause their voice mails were always full.  Anyway---I got hold of a supervisor yesterday and tried to find out why I haven't been paid yet---the surgery was Jan 22!  You wouldn't believe the excuses she rambled off to me.  My favorite being---"We didn't even know you had surgery until just now!"  Guess that was the workman's comp fairy that paid the bills??  But in the end, she said the check would be in the mail tomorrow.  Hopefully she moves at a faster rate of speed to the mailbox than she did to her telephone!

Hannah Banana called me yesterday.  Of course as soon as she says Hi Nana, all she want to do is talka Papa!  I told her Papa was at work and she said WHY--then she said "You talka daddy.  I don wanna"  So, guess if Papa is not home, my conversations with my youngest granddaughter will be short!  Looking forward to Easter even though the shopping is not yet done.  Got the eggs yesterday for the hunt.  I think that is their favorite part anyway.  Hopefully the weather will co-operate and we can do it outdoors.

Well, better go---that furniture ain't arranging itself!

Testing 1--2--3

Hi everyone.  (everyone at this point being my daughter and sister )  Just trying this out to see how and if it works.  If it does I will be  and !!  I do not have any big revelations or mind boggling posts at the moment.  I am just happy that I woke up this morning, happy, healthy, and my mind somewhat intact.  Hopefully I will find some friends out there to reply.    Ta-ta       Nanajen
